The "Per i Ragazzi" choir
The parish has two main choirs: one leads the singing at the 10:00 Sunday Mass, accompanied by the organ, and a second choir, accompanied by guitars, leads the music at the 11:00 children's Mass.
Besides the Sunday Mass with the children, the "Per i Ragazzi" choir also sings at other celebrations such as Confirmations, First Communions, wedding anniversaries and feast days (Don Bosco, Maria Ausiliatrice, patronal feasts…).
Historically, as far back as 40 years ago, the children's Mass was led by young people who, attending the two Salesian oratories (Don Bosco and Maria Ausiliatrice), learned to sing and play the guitar and put themselves at the service of the liturgy. That tradition has been handed down to the present day, with guitarists and singers passing on the baton.
Today the choir is made up of around 25 singers, 4 guitarists and 2 directors who take turns according to need and availability.
Those who take part are mostly parish families, often first involved on occasions such as First Communions or Confirmations, accompanying their children and then staying on in the choir.
The choir meets every fortnight, usually on Tuesday evening, to rehearse, both for the Sunday liturgy and for special occasions such as Christmas, Easter and Confirmations, which sometimes call for extra rehearsals.
